A friend of mine lives in Lake Worth and didn't wish to drive to meet me for dinner, so we compromised so that I could stay on 441 West and she would go from East Lake Worth to out West on 441 to meet for ...what else, R-I-B-S. (you KNOW my feeling on the subject). I sort of feel like a traitor to ...ahem...Shorty''s as, they, to me, are the best for ribs. It has been some years since I went to this particular BBQ restaurant, but the location out on Federal Highway in East Boca Raton. This was the first time at the location in Lake Worth area. I had called on the phone and spoke to a lovely young lady who was polite, articulate and friendly to my questions on checking their hours (sometimes YELP has not been updated for businesses), any specials, etc. Ashley was very sweet and patient. She did not try to rush me off the phone which was nice in itself. My friend and I pulled into the shopping plaza at the same time to park.(We were actually ON our cell phones with each other for the entire ride there, lol). We walked in and were greeted promptly and friendly, I might add to sit down. We basically knew that we wanted ...what else, RIBS....but weren't sure about the sides. I chose the rack of baby backs with cole slaw and their cornbread. My friend got the slaw and the sweet potatoe chips after inquiring for some time of veggie or non-carb item, which they didn't have. I DID see that someone put in their review that they had a salad a few weeks ago, so not sure why our server did not offer a side salad. Anywho, the ribs and other items are served in a basket that is paper-lined or easier clean up, I am sure. The ribs came, mine were in pieces and not as a whole rack together which I inquired about and got the answer, "they fall apart when taken off the grill", so WHY was my friend's rack of ribs whole? Okay....moving on...the cornbread was either stale or dry because it was just crumbly and falling apart (I ate it anyway). The ribs were good, but not very meaty and were not lacking in sauce. Regardless, they were stripped bare by my incisors as truly, they fell off the bone and practically melted in my mouth. The cole slaw was decent as cole slaws go. (creamy tasting). My friend enjoyed her ribs and slaw, but wished she had opted for the cottage fries as the sweet potato chips were just so-so. Towards the end of the meal, I tasted a few and found them to be tasteless and didn't maintain their crispiness. I know we arrived there about 6:30 ish and it was rather empty for the dinner crowd, but shortly after, a lot of tables were filling up fast as folks tend to eat later in this area on a Sunday night, it would appear. The restaurant closes at 9pm. Would I come back? Maybe. Why would I drive so far when I have Shoty's, the "Tried and True" in my own backyard ...so to speak. I will say this....the staff is friendly and the food comes out fast. The ladies' room was clean and the restaurant is as well. Also, the lighting is easy on the eye in the restaurant and, you can smell the BBQ out in the parking lot as you are walking towards it which tends to make your mouth water and your taste buds drool in preparation to get your "BBQ on".

The BBQ Beef platter was so good! The tangy sauce mixed with the creamy cole slaw made for a tasty meal. The sweet potato chips were perfectly cut thin and delicious. Fast friendly service is always a plus and this place didn't disappoint. Come early, cause it gets busy later in the evening.

I have been coming here for more than 10 years and everytime i come i always say i should come here more often. Randy and the crew always try their best to make sure things are just right. Good family atmosphere where you can see the owners on almost every visit. I read the other reviews and thought man some are cruel. But then maybe they just didnt get it right on that day. Or heck maybe even just not right on that plate. Either way I have been coming here a long time and will continue to recommend them to my friends. Yesterday I went here for the first time with a friend. Exceeded expectations. Service was great, and the wings were great as well. They did not have too much sauce but they were not dry either. I got a side of fries as well, and that itself could be a meal. The only thing I really didn't care for was the sweet tea. Overall a great place. Definitely recommend.

Here for a lacrosse tournament. Wondering where to eat. Found this place on yelp. Glad we looked. Reviews were mixed. Not sure why people panned this place. They must own the competition It was excellent and we know quite a bit about barbecue. First, get the cornbread. Take some home ( we did!). Awesome!! Pulled pork was suggested as a favorite for good reason. It was great. Ribs were great too. I do have one complaint, offering three sauces.. All great, which makes me keep going back and forth!! Go and enjoy; great food and the service is, as well!

Tried this place for the first time today and can safely say I won't ever be there a second time. My father & I both got the full rack of ribs - him with the beans and coleslaw, me with the sweet potato chips and coleslaw. First off the coleslaw tasted like the kind that comes in a big tub at the wholesale food stores. The chips were not only tasteless, they were rubbery instead of crisp. The portions on the slaw and the beans were about 1/3 cup each. The ribs themselves were unremarkable. What was remarkable was that the portions were different. I had 16 bones, dad had 21....yet they were the same dish. Finally, the service....or should I say the lack thereof? The server took our order, dropped off drinks, and dropped off food. We had no drink refill, no check-back after the food was delivered, no follow-up. A different server dropped off the check. In the meantime our server & another server stood behind the counter and discussed current events in their lives. Apparently they thought we were deaf or that we wanted to hear all the details of those events (we didn't). We would have preferred some actual service.

I ordered the baby back ribs 1/2 rack with coleslaw and baked beans. When I got my 1/2 rack of ribs I looked at and thought what happened? When I got the ribs it looks like they cut the ribs in half length wise. The bones were longer than 2 inches at the widest point barely any meat on them. I paid $13.99 for no meat on a 1/2 of ribs. This place rips you off. I won't be here ever again.

I'm there for lunch only on days that end with a Y ! Always fresh, the food taste amazing, and I like Vanessa, and Peter there who always makes sure you get anything you need ! The price is right, and you never leave this place hungry ! The corn bread is so good, and their sweets are the best. I'll be there tomorrow.

My wife and I shared the ribs and chicken platter along with the pulled bbq platter. They were wonderful. Cole slaw, corn bread and waffle fries were spot on as well. The only draw back I saw was that they charged us $1.75 for a can of pepsi(not even coke) but whatever. Besides that the food was delicious.

Ate there lots of times waitresses always snotty. Today they were even worse ordered sweet teas had to send them back took forever to get hot wings they looked and tasted horrible sauce was like soup was supposed to be medium wasn't even mild. I told the new waitress and she argued with me and said there supposed to be like that. Tried to charges is for bad tea. We were only customers in there with about 7 employees. They all avoided us. Will never go there again.

This is a go-to for us. You can't go wrong with the fall-off-the-bones ribs and wings. Combine them in a smaller portion for the basket or the larger portion for the dinner with two sides. We love the sweet cornbread and sweet potato chips (sweets). Come hungry and be prepared to get messy!

i really loved everything i had. The Ribs were very small but im sure that is part of what made them great. I have not had better anywhere and i get around. I loved the Sweet Potato chips, the droopy and the crisp ones both. The baked beans were delicious- the service was great-plenty of saniwipes. I cant think of one thing that was less than perfect.

This is close in proximity and i like ribs. The Sweets (sweet potato chips) are droopy at times but when they are crisp, dip them in the side of beans and boy howdy! I typically just get the ribs so i don't have a lot of input into other dishes. The waitstaff is helpful and but always busy.

Mississippi Sweets? They should call this place Mississippi Awesome!!!! Eating their tender ribs is the same feeling you get witnessing a unicorn giving a high five to Lebron James of the Miami Heat while Steve Perry sings Don't Stop Believing in the back seat of your car. Yeah, it's that awesome. The sauce was messier and stickier than my divorce. Yeah, I went there but I'm not bitter and neither is their ice tea which is good old fashioned sweet and yummy. Speaking of sweet and my awesome segues, did someone say sweet potato chips? I think I just did and they rock the casbah. In all honesty, I have no clue what a casbah is but if you needed one rocked, those chips will do it. The final item in my basket of "epic" was wings hot garlic style. I'm thinking this was my favorite item. Not too hot, definitely had that garlic going which reminded me of my fat Italian grandma. I love you Grammy. Had to say that or she would beat me with a wooden spoon. She was kind of a child abuser now that I think of it. Forget I brought that up. I actually like the wings much better than my fat Italian granny. There I said it. So there you have it. Mississippi Sweets not only makes tasty food but also heals deeply regressed family issues. 5 stars!!! Book It!!!
